36-year-old man dies in crash in Monument

A 36-year-old man was killed late Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Monument.

Monument police and the Colorado State Patrol are investigating the crash, which took place at about 10 p.m. Saturday on the 400 block of Colo. 105, about a mile and a half east of Interstate 25.

Police said a semi-trailer made a left turn when it was hit by a late-model Ford SUV believed to be driving erratically before the crash. Though the driver of the semi-trailer was not injured in the crash, the man in the SUV was trapped in his vehicle.

The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene less than an hour later.

It is unknown whether alcohol played a part in the crash.
