Springs airport passenger traffic falls 8th straight month

THE GAZETTE

Passenger traffic at the Colorado Springs Airport in July fell 11.5 percent from a year earlier to 84,706, the eighth consecutive monthly drop and the biggest decline in 14 months, airport officials reported Tuesday.

About half of the decline resulted from the Jan. 4 departure of U.S. Airways, but passenger numbers for all six airlines serving the airport also were down, including a 12.9 percent drop by Delta Air Lines.

Traffic for the first seven months of the year is off 6.8 percent from a year ago to 498,366, with only Frontier and United Airlines showing gains so far this year.
