Wife allegedly shoots husband accused in inmate attack case
CAÑON CITY - A man who was allegedly shot to death by his wife Monday was one of 10 ex-prison guards dubbed "The Cowboys" who were accused of organizing attacks on inmates at the maximum security federal prison SuperMax.
Fremont County coroner Dorothy Twellman says 40-year-old Brent Thomas Gall died from a shotgun blast to the chest Monday night. His wife, 38-year-old Robin Gall, was arrested on suspicion of second degree-murder and was being held on $50,000 bail. Investigators believe alcohol was involved.
Gall and three others were acquitted during a 2003 trial of the attacks on inmates in the mid 1990s. Three other guards were convicted while three others pleaded guilty.
