AMENDMENT 59: Move to rescind TABOR voted down

THE GAZETTE

Colorado voters rejected a proposed constitutional amendment that would end a major feature of Colorado's tax-capping law.

Amendment 59 would have allowed the state to establish an education fund with taxes that would have been rebated to citizens under the Taxpayers Bill of Rights.

El Paso County results, with 99.5% of precincts reporting,

YES 68,012 (40.99%)

NO 97,913 (59.01%)

Colorado results, with 74% reporting,

YES 776,859 (45%)

NO  959,181 (55%)

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
