Wildland fire crew taking applications

The El Paso County Wildland Fire Crew is accepting applications for volunteers until Jan. 25. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, have no felony arrests or convictions, and have a valid Colorado driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED.
Most positions require people to be in good physical condition. Applicants must also pass a background check and undergo an oral interview and physical agility test, based on position type, and attend the Wildland Fire Academy, scheduled to begin Feb. 16.
No previous experience is required. Some equipment purchases may be required. Applications are available at 210 S. Tejon St. For information, call Cathryn Richards at 520-7216.
