AFA holds blood drive for troops at war

THE GAZETTE

The Air Force Academy is hosting a blood drive 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, according to a news release.

Donated blood will be sent to aid injured troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and is expected to arrive in those countries within four days, the release said.

The public may donate during the drive, which is being held in the Arnold Hall ballroom.

Donors must meet these requirements:

• Weight at least 110 pounds

• Be at least 17 years old

• No illnesses for at least three days

• Be well hydrated

• Eat prior to donating

The drive is part of the Armed Services Blood Program, which help provide blood products for military personnel and their families during peace and war. For more information on the program go here.
