Broncos will team up with Colorado Lottery

THE GAZETTE

ENGLEWOOD – The Denver Broncos said they will officially announce a business partnership with the Colorado Lottery on Monday.

The NFL began allowing teams to allow their logo to appear on scratch-off lottery tickets this year. The Patriots were the first team to partner with a state-run lottery for the promotion.

Earlier this year, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell explained why the league – which is wary of any connections to gambling – allowed the new lottery promotions.

"This would purely be scratch-off and chance games. They are not in any way connected to the outcome of our games. That is a critical feature for us," Goodell told the Boston Globe. "We do think it is responsive to the pressures that states are feeling right now to help meet some of those budget shortfalls. It has been effective in other sports, and it is something that is a reasonable policy."
