Note to crooks: Run when you hear that burglar alarm

THE GAZETTE

When you set off a burglar alarm, it's probably time to run, a Colorado Springs man learned overnight, according to police reports.

Just after 2:30 a.m., Colorado Springs Police Department officers were called about a blaring burglar alarm at the Goodyear Auto Service Center, 3287 S. Academy Blvd. The first officer arrived to find a burglar dawdling inside the business with the alarm still screeching, police said.

When the man walked out of the business, he walked straight into a set of handcuffs, officers said. Police said the man, 20-year-old Lucas Salas, was arrested without incident.

Officers said a quick shake-down of Salas turned up burglary tools and cash from the Goodyear store.

Salas is being held at the El Paso County jail this morning in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
