Police arrest 15 at DUI checkpoint on S. Nevada Ave.

Police arrested 15 people in a four-hour span at a DUI checkpoint Friday night on South Nevada Avenue at Las Vegas Street.
The checkpoint, in the southbound lanes of South Nevada Avenue, was part of the state's annual 100 Days of Heat campaign to curtail drunken driving.
Colorado Springs Police, working in conjunction with the Colorado State Patrol, made contact with 498 drivers at the checkpoint, and 33 were evaluated to see if they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said. From those checks, 15 people were arrested.
