THE GAZETTE
El Paso County health officials have run out of vaccine at today's H1N1 flu clinic at New Life Church less than two hours after the clinic began.
Hundreds of people remain in line who have been accounted for and will receive shots, but at this point the El Paso County Department of Health and Environment is turning people away. The news was announced at a 10 a.m. briefing.
The health department devoted 1,800 doses of the vaccine for today’s clinic.
The parking lot opened at 6 a.m. for the 8:30 a.m. clinic. People came prepared, she said, with hats, coats, blankets, coffee and chairs.
At the first clinic, held Wednesday at Coronado High School, nurses administered 2,147 doses and had hundreds left over at the end of the day.
Additional H1N1 flu clinics are scheduled for next week, and many pharmacies and doctors’ offices have also received doses of the vaccine.
