THE GAZETTE

A 32-year-old man suffered serious head and shoulder injuries Monday when he fell about 50 feet while ice climbing in North Cheyenne Cañon Park, Colorado Springs fire Capt. Dean Folkerts said. The climber and a companion were trying to retrieve a rope at Silver Cascade Falls, above Helen Hunt Falls, when the man fell down a series of slabs, Folkerts said.

The injured man was able to walk, and his companion was trying to help him down the trail when the Fire Department's high-angle rescue crew arrived, Folkerts said. He was taken to Memorial Hospital. No names were released.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
