THE GAZETTE

Three climbers were rescued after climbing roughly 300 feet up a rock face in the Garden of the Gods without any climbing gear.

Colorado Springs firefighters were called at about 3:50 p.m. to rescue the three people, who were climbing in an area known as Tourist Gully, near the Kissing Camels formation.

"It's easy to get up, you just can’t down is the problem over there," said Sunny Smaldino, fire department spokeswoman. "It looks deceiving.”

The three people were helped down and promply ticketed for climbing without gear.
