Homebuilder announces Springs mayoral candidacy

Brian Bahr, the owner of Challenger Homes, is going to run for mayor of Colorado Springs.

"With the right vision, together we can restore the good image Colorado Springs once enjoyed, while laying a stronger foundation for future growth and prosperity," Bahr said in a statement.

"It's time for Colorado Springs to stop simply surviving," he said. "Now is the time to thrive."

Bahr planned to file his declaration of candidacy at the City Clerk's Office later Wednesday.

He plans to make a formal announcement on the steps of City Hall at 11 a.m. Aug. 25.
