A-Basin opens today
There’s still time to develop a cold this morning or have one of those pesky family emergencies.
Why? Because Arapahoe Basin is open for the season today, its earliest opening ever thanks to the miracle of snowmaking or the squandering of a precious natural resource, depending upon your point of view.
Still, if your conscience and your boss allow, be there at 9 a.m.. That’s when the Exhibition chairlift will open, serving the intermediate High Noon run covered by 18 inches of man-made snow. No beginner terrain is open yet.
NO BIG WINNER
This just in: You didn’t win last night’s Cash 5 jackpot.
The Colorado Lottery is reporting no one matched all five numbers to claim the $20,000 jackpot, which will remain at that semi-princely sum for today’s drawing.
The randomly selected numbers were 11, 13, 17, 25 and 26.
Lottery officials said 29 tickets matched four numbers to win the $200 second prize, while 901 tickets matched three numbers to win $10 each. Another 7,359 luckty ticket holders matched two numbers for $1 each.
MAN ARRESTED IN GAS THEFT
An escapee from Community Corrections was arrested early this morning after allegedly trying to steal gas.
Sean McCreary, 40, was stopped by police abouat about 2:30 a.m. at the Circle K store at 120 S. Rockrimmon Blvd. Police discovered he was wanted on suspicion of forgery and escape from ComCor, a work-release program. A female with him, Shanna Ballard, was arrested on suspicion of identity theft.

It should be a beautiful day in the neighborhood, with a high near 75 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Light winds out of the southeast could develop, according to the national Weather Service. Tonight will be between mostly clear, with a low around 46 degrees.
