SUNRISE: ICY COLD SETTLES OVER REGION

December 10, 2007 - 7:04 AM

Continued cold weather is expected today, with a high temperature barely

topping freezing at 35 degrees, according to the National Weather

Service forecast.

Roads are icy across the region, but the Colorado Springs Police

Department reports it has dropped its cold-reporting status for traffic

wrecks. That means anyone involved in an accident can call police and

wait for an officer to arrive.

IT'S YOUR BUSINESS

-- The mouse that roared is in the public spotlight once again, and a

public hearing will be held in Denver tonight on its status.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service wants to keep Preble's meadow jumping

mouse, which lives only along the Front Range of Colorado and Wyoming -

including northern El Paso County - on the endangered species list in

Colorado.

The agency will hold a public hearing on the mouse at its regional

headquarters, at 134 Union Boulevard in Lakewood. There will be an

informational open house from 4 to 5 p.m., and a hearing from 6 to 8

p.m. Anyone may attend and make comments.
