THE GAZETTE

The running mates have run in and run out. Stand by for the ticket-toppers.

A week that began with appearances by Gov. Sarah Palin in Colorado Springs, Loveland and Grand Junction on Monday continued Tuesday and Wednesday with Sen. Joe Biden's visits to Greeley, Commerce City, Colorado Springs and Pueblo.

Sen. John McCain's campaign has announced that the Republican presidential candidate will be in Denver and Durango on Friday. Colorado Springs was not included, but McCain said in a TV interview he planned to come here, and a campaign source said Wednesday afternoon that the Springs would be part of the trip and would be formally announced as soon as the logistics are arranged.

Sen. Barack Obama's campaign announced Wednesday that the Democratic standard-bearer would be in the Denver area on Sunday. And Sen. Hillary Clinton, Obama's rival in the primaries, is to make an appearance in Aurora on Friday on Obama's behalf.

Schedule details have not been released, but this much is clear: Presidential politicking is in high gear in Colorado.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
