Carson to get new commanding general on Wednesday
Fort Carson gets a new commanding general Wednesday during a 10 a.m. ceremony where Maj. Gen. David Perkins hands control of the 4th Infantry Division to Maj. Gen. Joseph Anderson.
Perkins, who recently returned from a year leading American efforts in northern Iraq, will pin on a third star and take over the Army’s Combined Arms Center in Kansas.
A career infantryman, Anderson is a 1981 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. Anderson, who came to the post from a Pentagon job, has a wealth of combat experience under his belt, including service in Panama for Operation Just Cause, work in Kosovo and two tours in Iraq.
The new Fort Carson boss will be welcomed by dignitaries including Gov. John Hickenlooper.
