The Gazette

As the El Paso County Department of Human Services prepares to moves its operations to a new county building, it's shuttering its Sand Creek office on Dec. 20, and sending its clients to its offices on Spruce Street for services.

The 19 Sand Creek employees will be the first to move to the consolidated county services building on Garden of the Gods Road. The entire DHS operation is expected to move from Spruce Street to the new building early next year, county officials said.

New applications and questions about cases for those in the Sand Creek area will be taken at the main DHS office at 17 N. Spruce St. Food assistance and cash benefits — EBT — will be handled in the DHS office at 105 N. Spruce.

DHS notes that Sand Creek clients who don’t have transportation can get to the Spruce Street offices by bus. Go to http://hiwire .springsgov.com:114/hiwire to plug in information that will bring up a route and schedule.

For more information about the move, go to http://dhs.elpasoco.com or call 636-0000.
