Newly elected school board members get green light from county

THE GAZETTE

All across the county, school districts will be swearing in their new board members in the next few days and weeks.

The El Paso County Clerk has completed its certification of the 2009 coordinated election.

In the certification process, the canvas board reviewed votes. There were an additional of 126 ballots counted after voters were allowed to correct discrepancies  in personal  information such as signatures. Those additions did not change any results.

One of the closest race was in Falcon School District 49 where Tammy Harold squeaked Donahue Quashie by 42 votes. Quashie declined to ask for a recount. Harold, along with Danielle Lindorf and Christopher Wright will be sworn in at a special board meeting Monday at 6 p.m.

El Paso County had a total of 254,451 registered voters, and 117,320 ballots were cast for a turnout of 46.11 percent, the county clerk said.
