UPDATE: Westbound Airport re-opens after crash
Westbound Airport Road near Powers Boulevard has re-opened after a woman was injured in a three-vehicle collision Wednesday evening.
The woman was thrown from a pickup truck and was taken to the hospital where she was treated for a closed head injury, ruptured spleen and broken ankle.
The woman was driving west on Airport Road when her pickup was struck about 5 p.m. by an eastbound mini-van, Colorado Springs police said. She was thrown from the truck and landed in the roadway, police said.
Another eastbound vehicle swerved to miss the woman and also became involved in the collision, police said. No other people were injured.
The westbound lanes of Airport Road were closed for over an hour while police investigated the crash.
