GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Editorial obituaries are published without charge. They are intended for current residents, people who have lived in the Colorado Springs area within the last five years, former residents with local services, or former residents who have lived the majority of their lives in the Colorado Springs area.

2. Editorial obituaries contain only this information: name, age, occupation, immediate survivors, visitation, service and burial information.

DEFINITIONS

1. Occupation is the person's job or career, including service in the military and work in the home. This does not include clubs, churches, organizations, sororities, hobbies, volunteer work or education. Some exceptions are: If the deceased is in school full time, we will list the occupation as student. If the deceased was a volunteer, that is what we will list. We do not list the organizations that the deceased volunteered for. If the deceased owned a business, we will list as business owner. We do not list the name of the business.

2. Survivors are only the immediate family: spouse, sons, daughters, stepsons, stepdaughters, adopted sons, adopted daughters, parents, stepparents, brothers, sisters, stepbrothers, stepsisters, companion, grandparents, (great and great-great, if applicable). We do not list where survivors live or where the deceased was married. Parents, stepparents, grandparents, siblings and stepsiblings are listed only if the deceased is a child or these are the only surviving relatives. We do not list parents or siblings if a spouse and/or the children survive the deceased. We do not list grandparents if parents and siblings or spouse and/or children survive the deceased. Also if the deceased is survived by their children and a companion, the children are listed first, followed by the companion.
