Big reward offered for info on slaying
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Denver Crime Stoppers is offering one of the biggest rewards in its history, $125,000, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who gunned down a deputy district attorney.
Adams County Chief Deputy District Attorney Sean May, 37, was killed in front of his home in the 3300 block of West 36th Ave. just west of Federal Boulevard, on Aug. 27.
May was shot in the head and lower back, according to autopsy reports.
Witnesses reported seeing May confronted by a white or Hispanic man, in his late teens or early 20s, 5 feet 11 inches tall with a medium build. The man was wearing a black baseball cap, a white T-shirt and khaki-colored, knee-length cargo-style pants, according to a Crime Stoppers release.
Most of the reward was put up by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Denver Police Foundation and the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation.
"He was the victim of a cowardly ambush in his own backyard, and we think that can't be," said Jim Davis, special agent in charge of the FBI in Denver.
"Whoever is responsible for this has to be punished. It's important to us in this community, it's important to the entire state that we resolve this."
Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said Tuesday the increased reward has yielded a few more calls, but police are always looking for more information.
"We need all we can get from the community by way of calls with any information they might have," Jackson said.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
