TABLE TALK: Denver event draws local bartender

THE GAZETTE

At the recent Denver Food & Wine Classic’s Art of the Cocktail event, I watched as bartenders shook their arms off making tasty drinks.

Lo and behold, right there on the Metro State campus, Nate Windham, a bartender at Blondie’s and The Office, was the lone Colorado Springs spirits master. Though he didn’t get to create his own drink recipes (they were given to him by the Colorado Bartenders Guild), the drinks he was mixing in the shaker were delicious and got the job done. See a video of him doing his thing at gazette.com.

The cocktail hour preceded a screening of the award-winning culinary documentary, “Pressure Cooker.” The story is a heart rending, inspiring tale of three seniors at Philadelphia’s Frankford High School who are training for cooking competitions in hopes of winning scholarships to culinary schools. It’s a path for them to improve their lives. A terrific story. To find out more about the film, visit takepart .com/pressurecooker.
