That’s the empowering tag line of “Whip It,” a new film that tells the story of Bliss (Ellen Page), a rebellious Texas teen who puts aside her bids for beauty queen fame for the knock-around world of roller derby and the Hurl Scouts. It opens Friday.

“I believe that girls can do it all,” says Drew Barrymore, who made her directorial debut with “Whip It.” “That’s why this film is so personal to me — I related to the girl Ellen Page plays: finding your inner strength, believing you can do what boys do and figuring who you are along the way.”
