Area farmers markets: Times and locations

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Most area farmers markets will run through the summer months and into October.

In the early weeks you will find vendors selling crafts and plants for your garden. The produce really gets more bountiful during the July 4th weekend.

The same organizers and many of the same vendors for the Monument market have a new market in Palmer Lake starting July 6. It's held in downtown Palmer Lake near the gazebo next to Palmer lake 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.

At America the Beautiful Park, the market known as the Colorado Farm and Art Market is a cooperative composed of growers, food processors and artists selling locally grown produce, meats, processed natural foods and fine arts and crafts. This year, growers will include Country Roots Farm, Golden Moment Farm, Javernick Family Farms, Larga Vista Ranch, Red Fox Run Orchard, Smith's Produce and Venetucci Farm. Processors and concessionaires include: Breadheads Bakery and Colorado Bread Co., Colorado's Best Tamales, Kris-Dee's Kettle Treats, Mangia Pasta, Mexican Tamales by Brenda, Olde Town Crepes and Shawn's Bakery.

As for the Midweek Farmers Market in Manitou Springs' Soda Springs Park, Grand River winery, based in Grand Junction, is a new vendor. Also, Golden Moment Farms and Breadheads Bakery are new to the market this summer. They join other regular vendors: Great Harvest, Musso Farms, Franks Produce Juice Plus and several other salsa, jam, honey, tamale and roasted-nut suppliers. Mark your calendar for the Retro Moto Bake Off July 15 and the Chile Cook-Off Aug. 27.
