Divide's mayoral race a real dog ... or pussycat
The not-so-strong mayoral candidates in Divide are purring and barking and bwock-bwocking their way into voters’ hearts.
These, uh, politicians, all running on a platform to do not a darn thing, are on the take. They’re selling their votes and everyone can vote as many times as they want.
Here’s the mayoral lineup: dogs, a cat named Walter who is currently in the lead, a parrot, a wolf and a wild donkey named Tarzan.
It’s all for the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter and it’s a buck a vote. The candidates are shameless ... you can email your votes, too.
Saturday is the time to meet them up close and personal in Woodland Park and stuff the ballot boxes.
Meet canine candidates Vader and Ashley starting at 11:30 a.m. at REMAX on Highway 24 at the southern entrance to Woodland Park and then travel to the Animal Clinic of Woodland Park to meet Walter, the Woodland Park Library (bowsers Dante and Squirt and parrot Jade) and Denny’s. It’s okay that Zack, the dog, is in a restaurant because he’s a therapy dog.
Howl with the wolves — and mayoral candidate Nakai — at the Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Tarzan appeared at an earlier event, but is now stubbornly running a quiet campaign, with no appearance scheduled.
Voters can register for gift baskets and restaurant drawings.
The winning mayor will be crowned on April 3.
