Dobson going on 'Hannity' tonight to 'set the record straight'
Focus on the Family founder James Dobson will be on the Fox News talk show "Hannity" at 7 tonight to respond to worldwide reports that he has admitted defeat in the culture wars.
Dobson requested the opportunity to appear on the show to counter reports that have gained worldwide attention in recent days, claiming he has given up fighting for causes that include bans on same-sex marriage and anti-abortion efforts.
The controversy stems from a story in London's Telegraph, which quoted Dobson's comments to Focus on the Family staff in February announcing his resignation from the ministry's board of directors.
But, Focus said in a news release, the comments were taken out of context.
Dobson told his staff that day that "We are right now in the most discouraging period of that long conflict. Humanly speaking, we can say that we have lost all those battles, but God is in control and we are not going to give up now, right?"
Some news outlets left out the part about Dobson not giving up the fight. This week, the Internet has been flooded with reports saying that Dobson has conceded defeat.
"Dr. Dobson's comments that day were an encouragement to staff to join him in continuing to fight for righteousness in the public square," the Focus news release said, "even though recent events had not turned out the way he or they would have hoped."
