Anti-drug event in Canon City
“Pray for the Children,” a free anti-drug event, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Park in Canon City. Speakers include Brad Hearon, a former meth addict who was severely disfigured while reportedly preparing to make the drug, and Toby Bethel, a former Florence police officer who was crippled for life after being shot while on duty.
The highlight of the event will be a communal prayer for children of drug-addicted parents and drug-addicted teenagers.
Entertainment will be provided by a Christian band, and there will be a drawing for free bikes.
For more information, call event organizer Bev Kinard at 1-719-275-3222.
