Two teenagers from the Pikes Peak region were among four people who died Sunday in a fiery head-on crash near the town of Wiley.

The local victims are believed to be Cody Nummy, 19, of Peyton, and Sophia Robinson, 17, of Colorado Springs. Investigators are awaiting dental records to confirm their identities, said Colorado State Patrol Trooper Dan Brusuelas.

The crash happened about 2:15 a.m. Sunday on Highway 287 near Wiley, a small town about 115 miles east of Pueblo.

According to Brusuelas, the teens were headed south with Nummy behind the wheel and Robinson in the passenger seat when the minivan swerved into an oncoming lane and slammed into a Ford Focus carrying three occupants.

The minivan burst into flames, trapping the teenagers. The driver of the Ford, Lori Ann Duncan, 31, of Fort Lewis, Wash., was killed along with an occupant, 18-year-old Kimberly Young of Stillwell, Okla.

Duncan's husband, Clayton Duncan, 32, is being treated at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Brusuelas said. The man's condition wasn't immediately available, but Brusuelas said he had been conscious and talking earlier today.

Nummy and his passenger were headed to Lamar to visit his brother, Brusuelas said.

It's unclear what caused the vehicle to swerve, but Brusuelas said that Nummy could have fallen asleep and that toxicology tests are being done to determine if drug or alcohol intoxication was a factor.

Clayton Duncan, also of Fort Lewis, Wash., was returning from a trip to Stillwell, Okla., where he dropped off his two young daughters at his mother's house for the summer and picked up Young, his half-sister.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
