Stacy Walker lost her soul mate in the motorcycle crash that killed her husband.

Badly injured in the same Dec. 28 accident, the 35-year-old mother of three remains in a coma at Penrose Hospital, said Ethan Elliott, a friend of the family. "They honestly have been preparing us for the fact that she might not even wake up from this," Elliott said.

Jerrimy Walker, 36, was driving north on Colorado Highway 83 when he braked and skidded while trying to avoid an oncoming pickup truck that was passing another car.

Both Walkers, wearing helmets, were thrown from the motorcycle. The pickup also crashed, but its driver wasn't injured.

The Walkers have an 18-year-old daughter and two sons, ages 15 and 9.
Jerrimy Walker, a career agent with Farmer's Insurance, died doing what had brought him joy and community, Elliott said.

He bought a new Honda Sabre in 2004.

Elliott met Jerrimy Walker through the Web site www.thesabrehood.org, an online community connecting Sabre riders. The two became fast friends.

"In addition to being an incredible friend, he was always there for his wife, always there for his kids," Elliott said. "Jerrimy was the kind of person that everyone wishes they could be."

Since the accident, many of the 20 Denver-area Sabre riders have set up a vigil in the hospital parking lot; one has driven down from Fort Collins every day.

It is a sense of closeness, Elliott said, that the Walkers hadn't experienced since their childhoods in the military. Their military upbringings also led them to support the troops; they sent 30 care packages to a unit in Iraq over Christmas.

At least 17 Sabre riders will ride in a funeral procession from Denver to the Springs today before Jerrimy Walker's 2 p.m. service at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Ave.
