Freedom Festival will draw conservative thinkers
Local conservatives will join in a daylong celebration of low taxes, limited government and capitalism on May 8 during the inaugural Peak Freedom Festival in Colorado Springs.
The event, at Cheyenne Mountain Resort, will feature sessions on everything from cartooning to entrepreneurship. The dinner speaker is columnist and Tea Party favorite Michelle Malkin.
“It’s an opportunity for a gathering of the tribes,” said Sean Paige, a Colorado Springs city councilman who is organizing the event for the nonprofit Limited Government Forum.
“We charge for the lunch and the dinner but the afternoon sessions are free,” Paige said.
A daylong pass including lunch and dinner runs $95 and can be obtained at www.peakfreedomfestival.com.
Paige said the festival is designed to highlight Colorado Springs as a national haven for limited government enthusiasts.
The event is nonpartisan, he said, but most of those there will be range from Libertarians to GOP activists with a few centrist Democrats thrown in.
“It’s not going to be a rowdy rally,” Paige said. “This will be fun.”
