A smoky brush fire along Interstate 25 south of downtown Colorado Springs burned between 3 and 5 acres Wednesday afternoon before it was brought under control.
Smoke from the fire threatened to shut down a lane of southbound I-25, but firefighters gained the upper hand and contained it without having to restrict traffic on the interstate.
The fire broke out about 12:20 p.m. and burned a swath of brush and trees south of the interstate near Lenmar Drive.
The cause is under investigation.
