The fire that started at Fort Carson on Friday scorched 126 acres and is 95 percent contained.

The cause remains under investigation.

A fire burning on Fort Carson Friday night swelled to 75 acres Friday night but was 50 percent contained by 9 p.m., according to spokesman Capt. Gregory Dorman.

The blaze burned a couple of miles east of the Turkey Creek recreational area. Colorado Springs Fire, El Paso County Sheriff’s wildland fire crews were among thosethat assisted Carson in fighting the fire.

Also Saturday, Fremont County Sheriff's officials say a 100-acre wildfire that prompted precautionary evacuations of dozens of homes is 50 percent contained.

County Commissioner Ed Norden says about 150 to 200 homes were evacuated after the fire was reported Friday near Florence. Air tankers dropped water on the fire.

Sheriff James Beicker suspects the fire was human caused, but the exact cause wasn't immediately known.

In western Colorado, fire officials were continuing to manage but not actively fight a lightning-caused fire burning on 937 acres about 32 miles northwest of Grand Junction on Saturday. No structures were threatened by that fire.
