Capitol Dome and Fort Carson sheep camp are endangered
The capitol dome and the Brown Sheep Camp at Fort Carson are among the endangered historical sites this year, according to nonprofit Colorado Preservation Inc.
"There is a real danger we'll have a loss, structurally and visually,"Patrick Eidman, program coordinator for the group told the Denver Post.
It will cost $10 to $30 million to repair the structure.
The sheep camp was bought in 1882 by Samuel Taylor Brown. The ranch grew to more than 26,000 acres, and is now on Fort Carson's Pinion Canyon Maneuver site.
Other historic sites at risk: the Grand Junction train depot; Columbine Valley Willowcroft Manor and Farm, Elkhorn Lodge in Estes Park, the oldest operating hotel in Colorado.
