Worrying about how to pay for college?

This is the event for you.

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has proclaimed Feb. 12 College Goal Sunday to provide families with free assistance in slogging through the financial aid process

There will be  17 sites across the state at which participants can get help from financial aid experts on ways to pay for college. The counselors will help students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student aid (FAFSA).

Also, more than $20,000 in scholarships will be given away statewide.

In Colorado Springs, the event will be from 2 to 4 p.m.,Sunday, Feb. 12 at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in Columbine Hall, rooms 220-224.

 

Participants are asked to bring their own and their family's 2011 tax records.

Spanish translators will be available.

"For many families the greatest hurdle is how to pay for college. College Goal Sunday provides an incredible platform for families to receive free direction on ways to make college affordable," said Dawn Taylor Owens, executive director of College in Colorado (an initiative of theColorado Department of Higher Education.
