Gala time
The granddaddy of culinary competitions, The Colorado Springs Chorale Chefs' Gala, will be at the Rocky Mountain Ballroom in the Broadmoor West Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. There are 23 of the top local toques signed up to compete in categories of appetizers, entrees, desserts and People's Choice. Cost is $95 per person or $855 for a table of 10. Call 634-3737 for reservations.

Corned beef on the way
Temple Shalom, 1523 E. Monument St., will have its pre-ordered corned beef sandwich lunches available Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For $9.50 you get coleslaw, dill pickle, chips and a cookie with the sandwich. Free delivery for pre-orders of 10 or more lunches.

Crepes and cream
Blandine Brutel, owner of Chez Blandine, and Frank and Merlyn Nocon, owners of Nocon's Gelatoria, 8816 N. Union Blvd., are teaming up for French Italian nights 6 to 9 p.m. every Friday starting Feb. 20. Brutel makes French crepes and the Nocons scoop gelato.
