THE GAZETTE

The entries are rolling in for The Gazette’s limerick contest. If you’re still deciding whether to enter, here are a couple of early submissions to inspire you (these will not necessarily be the winners, but we sure liked them).

E-mail your original limerick to andrea.brown@gazette.com or snail-mail them to her at The Gazette, P.O. Box 1779, Colorado Springs 80901. Include your full name and a contact number. Deadline is Aug. 7.

First place wins a family membership to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Second place gets eight movie tickets, and third place wins four movie tickets.

TECHIE LOVE

By Kate Jonuska, Gazette Special Sections:

I’ve done my hair and dressed up to be cuter

Cooked dinner and poured wine for my suitor

But to be second I’m cursed

To the one who came first

I’m a mere mistress, and his wife: his computer.

By Dinah Miller:

Driving Woodmen is scary

But the burden of work I must carry

Many bills do I owe

So to work I must go

All the while repeating Hail Mary!
