TOWN SQUARE: Term limits, TABOR money on agendas today

Ballot measures to be weighed

CITY COUNCIL, COMMISSION MEET TODAY

Colorado Springs City Council will hold a special formal session today at 4 p.m. at City Hall, 107 N. Nevada Ave. to vote on whether to put three questions on the November ballot. In question is whether voters want to let the city keep about $600,000 in revenue that would otherwise have to be refunded under TABOR; whether money collected under the Trails, Open Space and Parks Tax (TOPS) can be used for maintenance on all city parks and trails; and whether the city should change its governing structure to create a strong mayor.

Today, The El Paso County Commission will discuss whether to refer three questions to the November ballot that would extend the terms of commissioners and other county officials who hold elected office, including the district attorney, treasurer, clerk, assessor and surveyor. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the County Office Building, 27 E. Vermijo Ave.

Both meetings are open to the public. For more public affairs news, click here.
