Helicopter used to track bar-fight suspects

A Springs Police helicopter aided in the arrest early this morning of two men who allegedly fled from a large fight that left one man injured.

Police were called at 1:13 a.m. today to the Irish House Bar, 2001 E. Platte Ave., regarding a fight. One man, treated at Memorial Hospital for a broken nose, told police the man who hit him removed a shiny object from his pocket and placed it on his hand before hitting him.

As the helicopter arrived, two trucks sped from the bar. The helicopter followed until officers stopped both vehicles.

Raul Martinez, 25, was arrested in connection with the assault. Nick Gonzales, 23, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and habitual traffic offender.
