Former Muslim discusses Islam
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A man who says he was a Muslim terrorist before converting to Christianity will speak of what he sees as the problems of Islam at 10 a.m. today during a service at Christ Church of Colorado Springs, 2188 Executive Circle.
Born into a Sunni Muslim family in the Middle East, Kamal Saleem came to America as a young man to convert Christians and Jews to Islam. But in 1985, he converted to Christianity and now speaks at churches about "the true culture and agenda of Islam" and the current situation in the Arab world, according to a news release.
"Many of us as church leaders, biblical scholars and theologians are convinced that this is one of the most important messages facing our culture today," Christ Church senior pastor Mark Phillips said.
Online marriage class
The Catholic Diocese of Colorado Springs is offering an online marriage class at www.catholicmarriagepreponline.com. Cost is $150 per couple.
Couples can take the course over a period from one week to three months, said Christian Mert, diocese director of the office of marriage and family life.
Participants will learn about the meaning of the sanctity of matrimony, how to handle finances and spiritual issues, and employ practical guidelines that help make a marriage strong, Mert said.

Retreat for Christians
"The Keys Christian Wholeness Retreat" will be offered from 12:45 to 3 p.m. Tuesday in Room 107 at the World Prayer Center on the New Life campus, 11025 Voyager Parkway.
Retreat presenter Cara Savanna said the event for Christians in service, in its ninth year, will focus on God's goodness, God's presence and how Christians can walk in liberty.
