‘Little angels’ don’t cut it with TV

At least the mountains should be a hit for show

“Super Nanny” didn’t draw super demand Saturday during a casting call in Colorado Springs seeking parents and their out-ofcontrol knee-biters for the ABC reality television hit.

Three hours into an event to find a local family for the show, just eight would-be stars showed up with their kids.

“For some, it’s difficult to get everyone together and get them to an event,” talent scout Craig Ekedahl said with a smile as he waited for families to show up at Mr. Biggs Family Fun Center.

The show pits obdurate children against the expertise of famed British nanny Jo Frost.

The nanny is tasked with coming up with ways to turn the children into angels amid reality television scenes of screaming kids and frustrated adults.

For Jennifer Schafer, frustration came in a new form Saturday as she met with Ekedahl.

Her three kids, ages 5, 8 and 11, are normally hellions, she said.

“I have disobedient children beyond belief,” Schafer said.

Not Saturday.

As they met with the talent scout, Schafer’s kids were perfect. Not a peep from the three of them.

“They were little angels,” the annoyed mother said.

That’s not what Ekedahl was looking for.

“We’re looking for issues that will challenge (the nanny),” he explained. Good kids are bad for ratings.

Still, Ekedahl said he has several good, meaning bad, prospects and thinks he will get producers to shoot a “Super Nanny” episode here.

Big wigs with the show are set on shooting in Colorado Springs because the scenery would be a perfect contrast for horrible children.
