Powers Boulevard re-opens after flooding

All lanes of Powers Boulevard are now open after flooding and a car crash wreaked havoc for drivers in northern Colorado Springs on Sunday.

Two of three southbound lanes of Powers at the intersection with Barnes Road were closed Sunday afternoon when flash flooding stranded a few cars. Police diverted cars from the lanes with the worst flooding. Debris left by the flood waters kept the road closed for even longer.

A few blocks south, at the intersection with Palmer Park Boulevard, the southbound lanes were all closed because of a three-car crash. A driver running from sheriffs deputies ran a red light at the intersection and collided with two other cars.
