THE GAZETTE

C&D Enterprises, a Colorado Springs-based company that operates as C&D Security, has won a five-year, $85 million contract to provide security for 40 buildings in the Philadelphia area used by federal agencies. The contract is the largest ever awarded to the 53-year-old company, which employs 650 in nine states, including 110 in the Springs.

C&D Executive Vice President Troy Thames said the company had held a  previous contract for the same work since 2007, but the Department of Homeland Security sought new bids last year. The new contract begins May 1 and provides jobs for 227 C&D employees.
