Break the record, win $1,000
The folks at Carmichael Training Systems are making this vow to anyone who can best the fastest time in the Cheyenne Cañon Time Trial on July 11.
Cyclists will climb the 3.1 miles and 1,250 vertical feet of Cheyenne Canyon Road.
There are more than $2,000 in cash and merchandise prizes.
Plus, anyone who can break Tom Danielson's time of 13:34 wins $1,000.
The day of cycling events also includes a kids fun ride and after-party at Carmichael Training Systems.
Entry fee is $30. Register by July 9 at www.cheyennecanontimetrial.com.
Beer for a cause
Drinking good beer can benefit Cheyenne Cañon, as long as it is Cheyenne Cañon Ale.
Every penny of profit from the beer, released last week by Bristol Brewing Co., goes to the Friends of Cheyenne Cañon.
In the first two years, the popular pinyon-nut brown ale took in more than $30,000 for the park.
It is available in 22-ounce bomber bottles and draft for a limited time at select liquor stores, restaurants and the brewery.
