Gazette team wins for ‘Get It!’ campaign

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo also recognized

THE GAZETTE

The Gazette’s marketing staff won best in show at the 2007 Addy Awards presented Saturday at the Antlers Hilton hotel by the Pikes Peak Advertising Federation.

The Gazette was honored for its tongue-in-cheek “Get it!” campaign.

“For us, it truly was a labor of love to produce that campaign,” said Liz Cobb, the Gazette’s vice president of marketing. “To have that kind of honor is really special.”

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s “Budgie Buddies” campaign won best of show for television. Another spot from “Budgie Buddies” also won a judge’s choice award in radio.

Sandia Inc.’s design for the Flying Horse Web site won best of show on the Web. Focus on the Family’s booklet on RU-486 won best of show for public service, and Envoy Creative’s spot for the Church at Cheyenne Mountain won best of show for radio.

Other judge’s choice awards were given to Focus on the Family for its Brio Mother-Daughter campaign and to lowercase h graphic design for the Johannes Hunter Jewelers catalog.

Comcast Spotlight’s Karole Campbell was honored with the federation’s silver medal award for her work in the industry and the community. Her father, Paul Campbell, won the award in 2002.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
