Someone to lean on at memorial for teen

Steffanie McTigue hugged Clelia DeMoraes, the mother of Whitney Hendrickson, on Thursday at the growing memorial for Whitney at the 7-Eleven where the 18-year-old was killed on Tuesday.

McTigue witnessed the crash that caused the deadly fire at a gas pump when she stopped to buy a drink at the store, located at the corner of 15th Street and West Colorado Avenue.

McTigue said she's been haunted by the scene, unable to sleep since.

DeMoraes happened to be visiting the memorial at the same time.

A service will be held for Whitney Hendrickson at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Colorado College's Shove Chapel, 1010 N. Nevada Ave.
