Small Smiles is topic of '20/20'
Small Smiles Dental Centers, a national chain with offices in Colorado Springs, Denver and Pueblo, will be featured today in a "20/20" report about questionable practices.
Small Smiles, which serves mostly children on Medicaid, has come under fire in other media reports for restraining kids, not allowing parents to be present with them, and doing unnecessary procedures to get Medicaid reimbursements.
"20/20" spokeswoman Alyssa Z. Apple confirmed the report will air today at 8 p.m.
Correspondent Deborah Roberts reported from Pueblo, but Colorado Springs is not specifically mentioned, she said.
Sue Williamson, a spokeswoman for The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Finance, which handles the state's Medicaid program, did not know Thursday evening whether Small Smiles was being investigated for its Medicaid billing.
