Man arrested in throat-slashing death at motel
Police today arrested a man in connection with a February 2007 throat slashing at a North Nevada Avenue motel.
Brett Phillips, 38, of Colorado Springs is suspected of first-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Elbert Nakai, who was found dead in a room at The Gables Motel, 2818 N. Nevada Ave.
Colorado Springs Police Lt. David Whitlock said he did not know the nature of Phillips and Nakai's relationship, or if there was one.
