Mom and teen injured in car crash

THE GAZETTE

A driving lesson was interrupted Sunday night when a minivan driven by a 15-year-old girl was rear-ended in north Colorado Springs - injuring her and her mother.

The crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. at Palmer Park Boulevard and Baylor Drive, near the intersection with Academy Boulevard.

The girl, in a Dodge Caravan, was stopped in an eastbound lane of Palmer Park and waiting to turn onto Baylor when the minivan was rear-ended by a red Oldsmobile two-door, said Colorado Springs police Sgt. Chris Newton.

The girl and her mother, whose names weren't released, were taken to Memorial Hospital. Their conditions weren't available, but the mother, in her 40s, appeared to be seriously hurt, police said.

Michelle Marshall, 25, was cited with careless driving causing injuries, police said.
