Movers & Shakers: New hires, promotions, honors, new businesses

• The Citadel mall announced the appointment of Jill Kobe as general manager, responsible for overseeing the shopping center’s 150-plus brand-name stores and specialty boutiques. With awards from the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Public Relations Society of America, Kobe has worked for several properties in Colorado, as well as in Naples, Fla. She has been active in community outreach as president of the Aspen Grove Business Improvement District, vice president of the Broomfield Business Improvement District and director of the City of Littleton Business and Industry Affairs Committee.
• Pikes Peak United Way President/CEO JD Dallager recently announced the appointment of Kent Fortune, Jill Tiefenthaler, Liz Cobb and Gary Peacock to the 2012 board of trustees. Fortune, a 22-year veteran in the insurance field, is vice president and general manager of the USAA Colorado Springs campus. Tiefenthaler became Colorado College’s 13th president in July and was previously provost and professor of economics at Wake Forest University. Cobb serves as vice president of marketing at The Gazette. Peacock is market manager for Wal-Mart, overseeing all marketing efforts for Colorado Springs area stores. The new trustees will join existing members Jay Alexander, Vic Andrews, Kathy Boe, Jerry Forte, Nick Gledich, Bill Hodgkins, Tim Mason, Kimberly McKay, Paula Miller, Carm Moceri, Barb Winter and chair Terrance McWilliams.
• Pikes Peak United Way recently named Lori Bellingham to the position of director of leaders in giving. Bellingham will be responsible for the nonprofit’s major gift program, as well as the retention and recognition of leadership donors. She previously was in charge of strategic partnerships for an Atlanta-based public relations firm and has a background in nonprofit marketing and development.
• Jameson Smith has accepted an expansion of his chief operating officer role to take on executive vice president responsibilities for Penrose-St. Francis Health Services. Smith is now responsible for providing overall operational leadership for Penrose-St. Francis. He’ll oversee the expansion and growth of services and physician relations, and will provide clinical operational oversight. Before joining Penrose-St. Francis, Smith was the vice president of operations at the Centura Health Service Center in Denver.
• Ent Federal Credit Union announced the promotion of Jeremy Davis to business banker. Davis has been with Ent for more than four years and previously served as a business consultant at its Jackson Creek service center. Davis will serve the business banking needs of the credit union’s southern cluster, which includes Ent’s South, Galley, Westside, Jetwing, Peterson AFB and Schriever AFB service centers.
• The Financial Planning Association of Southern Colorado announced its 2012 board of directors. The new officers include president, Brad Gann, Ameriprise; president-elect, Skip Fleming, First Command; membership chair, Jeremiah Erickson; public relations/government relations chair, Susan Strasbaugh, Strasbaugh Financial Advisory; sponsorships chair, Tim Rohlfing, Ameriprise; programs chair, Bill Van Keulen, Carnick and Co.; and treasurer, Brian Little, Peak Capital Management.
• Travis Webb, managing partner of BKD LLP’s Colorado office, announced Brian Beiser, supervisor, has been authorized by the Institute of Construction Industry Financial Professionals to use the CCIFP certification marks. Beiser has more than five years of public accounting experience and three years of experience as a tax supervisor with the Colorado Department of Revenue. He is a 2003 graduate of The University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, with a bachelor of science degree in business administration and finance. Besides a formal education and professional and work experience requirements, CCIFP professionals must pass the Certification Examination and adhere to ICCIFP’s Code of Ethics.
• Maxx HD Sunglasses announced the promotion of Allison Walters to coordinator of ProSports Collections. In a new licensing agreement with Major League Baseball, Maxx HD will have the rights to produce and market official MLB licensed products; Walters will be working directly with all 30 MLB® clubs. Walters previously worked at the BBB of Southern Colorado. Maxx also announced that Heather Valdez-Conover recently joined the company as a graphic artist. She previously was graphic artist for Modular Mining Systems in Tucson, Ariz.
• CIA-Leavitt Insurance Agency announced the hiring of Joan Lomas as a commercial lines account executive. With more than 30 years working in insurance, Lomas has experience with a broad range of industries, including contractors, technology, manufacturing and environmental. Her focus will be serving clients in Colorado Springs and along the Front Range.
• The Colorado Springs AmeriSpec office, which is owned and operated by Bob and Linda Pyne, received the Marion E. Wade Achiever Award at the annual AmeriSpec International Convention in Sarasota, Fla. The award recognizes businesses for their excellence, growth and stability. The Springs AmeriSpec office also won the Silver Circle Award, which recognizes owners based on their annual gross revenue during the year leading up to the convention. AmeriSpec has more than 150 independently owned and operated home-inspection franchises located throughout the U.S. and Canada.
• Peaks Nutrition, owned by Jeff and Bobbi Smith and Paul Jon and Melissa Liimatainen, has opened at 3566 N Academy Blvd. Peaks Nutrition sells energy and fitness products; it also provides wellness profiles and meal planning and hosts weight loss challenges. For more information, call 550-5877.
• Janna Hoiberg, of Colorado Springs, was honored recently by ActionCOACH with an ActionMAN Award. This award is given to coaches who embody the 14 points of culture developed by ActionCOACH, a business coaching and executive coaching firm.
• Knit Wits, a children’s clothing consignment boutique at 103 S. Main St. in downtown Fountain, will celebrate its first anniversary with a grand re-opening event March 1. The event, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., is free and includes food, a craft fair, balloons and giveaways.

• The board of directors of the Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center announced the appointment of Kenneth P. Knapp as the Colorado Springs-based organization’s first executive director. Knapp was formerly deputy director of the PTAC. He has more than 30 years of government acquisition experience.
• Tom Caltrider has joined Corporate Development Capital as its managing director focusing on the chemicals/plastics, building materials, environmental, construction and general manufacturing industries. Previously, Caltrider had his own M&A firm in Maui, Hawaii, and was associated with VR Mergers and Acquisitions, for whom he led their Maui office. He has nearly 30 years of business leadership experience.
• Shauna Barker has joined Maxx Sunglasses as the Monument company’s chief financial officer. Before joining the Maxx team, Barker owned and operated her own business, Shauna’s Delivery Service, a Kansas City, Mo.-based package delivery service.
• Charlene Boudreau was recently promoted to associate director for the Sport Management program in the College of Business at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Boudreau has 15 years experience with the U.S. Olympic movement; she also owns a small business that specializes in strategic planning for sporting organizations. She teaches courses in Olympic, international and non-profit sport management, among other subjects. As associate director, she will launch the college’s first certificate in business education for sport this summer.
• Jennifer Wright has joined OfficeScapes as an account coordinator. She recently received her masters degree in education from Regis University.

• Colorado Springs-based Linear Manufacturing has promoted Scot Gossage to director of business development. Gossage, a Colorado Springs native with 30 years of experience in the electronics contract business, will oversee all sales and marketing efforts for Linear as well as serve as project manager and customer liaison for new Linear customers. Linear is a contract manufacturer for electronic circuit board assemblies and serves clients in many market segments for original equipment manufacturers including water treatment controllers, aerospace assemblies and medical devices.
• Katrina Grablin, a physician assistant, has joined the north Colorado Springs office of Strode Family Practice. Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Grablin holds a master of science degree in physician assistant studies and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Association of Family Practice Physician Assistants. In addition to primary care, she is experienced in women’s health care. Jill Saylor, family nurse practitioner, has joined the south Springs office of Strode Family Practice. Board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Saylor holds a master’s degree in advance practice nursing from Indiana State University. She has 20 years of experience in family practice and home care for both children and seniors.
• Evercare Hospice and Palliative Care announced Dr. John Lynn has joined Evercare as an associate medical director. Lynn is board-certified in internal medicine and rheumatology; he began his medical practice in Colorado Springs in 1983.
• The Home Front Cares announced the addition of Dr. George Ulrich as an advisory board member. Ulrich is an ophthalmologist with Colorado Springs Health Partners. He is a native of Colorado Springs and a retired Navy captain. He graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1985.
• Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado announced the filling of three key positions. Jennifer Kleinschmidt has joined Care and Share as chief financial officer; Kleinschmidt, a former Air Force comptroller, is replacing Susanne Baker, who is retiring. Donna Gibson is leaving Pikes Peak United Way to join Care and Share as the director of individual giving. Before her work at United Way, Gibson worked for the Center for Nonprofit Excellence. Stacy Poore will join Care and Share later this month to serve as chief development officer. Poore comes to Care and Share from Susan G. Komen for the Cure, where she served as executive director for southeastern Colorado. She has also worked for JA Worldwide and Current.
• Local Kitchen Tune-Up owners Bruce and Lori Morgan recently attended the Kitchen Tune-Up National Reunion in Nashville, Tenn. Kitchen Tune-Up franchise owners from across the U.S. and Canada attended the specialized three-day training conference and participated in learning sessions on commercial and residential sales, kitchen trends and product training,
• The Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs recently recognized four industry members with annual awards that honored their service to the HBA, the building industry and the community. Jason Weber of Weber Construction was honored as Associate Member of the Year; Ron Holladay of Holladay Brothers Construction was named Remodeler Member of the Year; Kyle Campbell of Classic Homes was named Builder Member of the Year; and Scott Mikulecky of law firm Sherman & Howard was honored as Industry Person of the Year. The four were recognized at the HBA’s annual awards reception Feb. 1 at the Antlers Hilton hotel. HBA board president John Cassiani presided over the event, which was attended by several local officials and more than 100 HBA members.
